About the Role

As a Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in adapting and enhancing our luminaire portfolio. You will collaborate across departments—production, assembly, customer service, sales, and marketing—to ensure that every solution not only meets but exceeds customer expectations. From product modifications to technical support and after-sales service, your expertise will help drive PACO Lighting's reputation for quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and adapt existing luminaires to address specific customer requirements.

  • Translate customer feedback into product improvements while safeguarding quality and performance standards.

  • Apply DFMA principles to optimize and refine product designs.

  • Collaborate closely with production and assembly teams for seamless implementation of modifications.

  • Provide innovative, practical solutions to meet client specifications.

  • Leverage optical design principles to maximize luminaire performance.

  • Define and execute testing protocols to validate modifications for certifications.

  • Partner with the marketing and sales teams to deliver technical insights and compelling product visuals.

  • Analyze performance data to confirm that product modifications meet functional and operational targets.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc).

  • 5+ years' experience in luminaire design and modification (strong asset).

  • Hands-on experience in production and assembly environments.

  • Knowledge of tooling feasibility (sheet metal bending, welding, casting).

  • Proficiency in lighting design and simulation concepts (asset).

  • Familiarity with DFMEA analysis and design validation.

  • Advanced skills in SolidWorks and 3D design tools.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of project management software such as ClickUp (asset).

  • Experience with ERP systems in a production environment.

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English (written and spoken).
